UI & Visual Designer

We are Now Boarding, a first-class UX/UI Design Studio based in Cape Town, working with clients locally and around the world. For over 15 years, we’ve been working in industries like Crypto, Solar, Payments, Property, Insurance, Education, Health and Telecoms, and creating experiences that are simple, beautiful, and always human-first.

We are obsessive about design.
We advocate for the user.
We are a small, close-knit team of people who really like each other, and really love to bring out the best in each other.

‍And we are looking for a new UI & Visual Designer to come and do the best work of their career with us.‍

But not just any designer. We are looking for someone with a good few years honing their craft and refining their eye. Someone who can conceptualise and craft digital brands with effortless precision, bring interfaces together like a work of art, and who believes that there can be no great UX without exceptional UI.

Is this you?

• You have a qualification in Visual Communication (or similar) and you’ve used it to become a dangerously-good designer.
• You have 5+ years of experience, but have spent your entire life surrounded by colour pencils.
• You have an obsession with layout and typography. If you see bad leading on a restaurant menu, it genuinely ruins your appetite.
• You have solid experience working on digital brands and websites, and a love for the role that technology plays in our lives.
• You believe in simplicity, and know how to scale, adapt, and avoid overcomplicating interfaces.
• You design independently, but collaborate openly.
• You’re hungry to learn and grow, and push the envelope.
• You bring good vibes, love to spend time with your studio crew and want to be part of something bigger than your portfolio.

We’re designing products that millions of people use. 
We need fresh eyes, and someone to come in and design the hell out of it.

The low-down

• The Vibe: We work hard and have incredibly high standards, but always underpinned by solid support and a collaborative ethos. We value personal and recharge time, and having great energy as a team. If we’re not having fun, what’s the point, right?
• The Location: Hybrid. But on Fridays, we are all at Innovation City in Cape Town. It’s where the studio sessions, the team lunches, the drinks and the gees happen.‍
• The Salary: Market-appropriate depending on experience, skill-level and portfolio.
