Clover artfully raises cash for feeding scheme

An art campaign sponsored by Clover has raised R150 400 for the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) to assist them with feeding 86,650 children per day. Sixteen milk cans, which had been transformed into works of art by well-known local artists, were auctioned off at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town.

Contributing artists were Beezy Bailey, Cecil Skotnes, Willie Bester, Tyrone Appollis, Francine Scialom Greenblatt, Jill Trappler, Louis Jansen van Vuuren, Selwin Pekeur, Arlene Amaler-Raviv, Kevin Brand, Mark O'Donovan and Paul du Toit. The artistically re-worked aluminium milk cans had been on display at the AVA Gallery since early May, in the lead-up to the auction and had attracted much attention, due to the novelty of the idea, as well as their artistic value.

PFSA fundraiser and PRO, Rosemary Kahn says all 16 milk cans were sold, with Clover buying six in total. "The turnout was excellent with people spilling over into the street. In addition to the number of companies that attended, we also had several private buyers and art lovers at the auction. We are very grateful for Clover spearheading this project to support our worthy cause."

Some top companies that attended the auction included Investec, African Nova, Joe Public, FCB Redline, while the MEC of Education of Western Cape, Cameron Dougmore was the special guest speaker.
