SABC 1 educational youth show, Take 5, will hit the roads of South Africa this month to reach out to the youth of its target audience in a new series which aims to engage, stimulate, inspire, challenge, inform and educate the youth about their lifestyles while addressing pressing issues facing our country and its future.

Simphiwe Ngcobo, Editor Youth Education at SABC Education explains: "The youth of today live fast lives and absorb information as fast as it is produced. As broadcasters, SABC Education are challenged to sustain this new breed of youth who are fearless and want to showcase their own ideas and values, tell their own stories in a style that is completely authentic, their style, their lingo, their experiences and their existence in our country. Take 5 will create excitement and have impact on viewers with hard-hitting facts in a platform for a truly interactive experience."

Recordings will take place in universities, schools, community centres and other venues in different towns and cities throughout our country leaving no stone unturned, taking nothing for granted and always questioning everything. Each town visited will cover different cultures, life-skills, success stories and entrepreneurial developments. The new Take 5 will ensure the voices of South Africa's youth are heard and their issues addressed.

The presenters - Sydney Phalali, Nosipho Gumede, Kia Johnson and Aaron Moloisi, are slick, vibey, young, and energetic and have streetwise personalities that reflect young South Africans. They take viewers on a journey that showcases and understands different languages, bridges gaps and draws inspiration for nation building and cultural respect. They create dialogue between the youth about pressing issues they face and expose realities of life in South Africa.

Ngcobo concludes: "We as a nation have the power to become world leaders... this can only be done by arming our future leaders with a world class education."

Take 5 is on SABC 1 Mondays to Fridays at 16h30.
