New marketing manager for Metro FM

Hot-on-the-heels of its reinvigorated on-air talent and programming line-up comes the appointment of Olwethu Hoyana as the new marketing manager for the Metro FM team. Hoyana comes to the station from the National Lottery, where he was brand manager for SportStake.

“Marketing and entertainment are two passions of mine and this new appointment brings these together in a way that I am incredibly excited by,” Hoyana says.

Born in Umtata and raised in East London, the 31-year-old Hoyana, who has a business management diploma, first worked at Cadburys as a rep before moving to British American Tobacco, marketing the Dunhill brand during the clampdown on cigarette advertising in South Africa. From there Hoyana moved to Nestle before taking up the position at the National Lottery.

“I join Metro FM at a very exciting time where the station turns 21, which is a big milestone by any measure. When this station first came on air I was only 10 years old. Metro FM was very relevant then and so many years on, remains an integral part of the lives of some six million people,” he enthuses.

Says Matona Ntshona, Metro FM station manager, “We are positive that Olwethu is going to have a great impact on Metro FM, bringing a wealth of diverse marketing experience to the position as well as an ability to think out-of-the-box and in ways that will only add to our listeners and partner's experience of the station.”
