5FM's new station manager announced

Comments Graham on her new appointment: "It's good to be back. I join the station at an exciting time, as we're about to launch our new line-up in July with two of the biggest drivetime DJs in the country - Gareth Cliff and DJ Fresh. I look forward to new growth at the station."

"They say you can never go back but in the case of Helen Graham I am happy to admit that the SABC has been successful in its policy of succession planning. Helen showed great courage in going to Good Hope FM at a time when it faced many challenges and she has shown herself to be a strong performer and one of a new successful breed of radio station managers" says Randall Abrahams, GM of PCS Radio (5FM, Good Hope FM, Metro FM) at SABC.

During her two year-tenure as station manager of Good Hope FM, Graham has grown the station's audience by over 100 000 new listeners, against a broader backdrop of stable and declining radio audiences. She also launched the station's first TV commercial.

Her success at the station has been built around new programming and marketing initiatives, which saw dramatic line-up changes - including the coup of getting Nigel Pierce back at the station and, more importantly, a stronger community focus.

The 5FM management team is: Helen Graham, station manager; Aisha Mohammed, marketing manager; and Nick Grubb, programme manager.
