EXSA welcomes events on board

The Exhibition Association of South Africa (EXSA) last week announced that it has re-positioned itself to include events and will now be known as the Exhibition and Events Association of Southern Africa. A new logo and corporate identity, which reflect this change, have been adopted.

Sharon Peetz, CEO of EXSA, says, “Traditionally there has always been somewhat of an overlap with events and exhibitions; however, now more than ever, there is a strong trend towards more experiential events. As a result, exhibitions providing more events to cater for the needs of the modern visitor.

“It was therefore a logical progression for us to expand our association to include events. This move is in line with international trends where many federations and associations have seen the benefits and reasoning of including events into their overall exhibition association.”

At the heart of the EXSA strategy is the ambition to:

  • Actively grow and develop the exhibition and event industry within southern Africa. This will be achieved through promoting the benefits offered by exhibitions and events and raising the profile of the industry and the professionalism of its members.

  • To earn revenue for the country by promoting South Africa as an ideal location for national and international exhibitions and events.

  • To promote the international standards of facilities and services for exhibitors.

  • To promote and facilitate cooperation among members and to exchange information and ideas related to national and international trade shows, exhibitions and events.

  • To be membership-driven and focused on the member's needs and requirements and to ensure that it delivers on their expectations.

  • To be leaders in the industry and to ensure that its strategy is successfully implemented.
