MFSA applauds Pick 'n Pay's handling of extortion threats

The Marketing Federation of Southern Africa (MFSA) commends Pick 'n Pay acting in the public interest in disclosing the extortion threats faced by the retailer over the past seven weeks.

"In particular, the MFSA lauds the fact that Pick 'n Pay has chosen to place consumer safety above anticipated revenue losses and other damaging cost implications to the store," said John Arnesen, general manager of the MFSA.

The MFSA is committed to the highest level of integrity and ethics in marketing and endorses Pick 'n Pay's approach of keeping the public informed and updated of all new developments. The MFSA compliments Sean Summers and the Pick 'n Pay team in the way they are handling the matter.

"Summers, a former IMM (now amalgamated with the DMA and ASOM to form the MFSA) Marketer of the Year, must ensure that the public is not spared any detail, especially to safeguard the integrity of the retailer as well as its other 'No Name' brands," advised Arnesen.
