JWT Cape Town to handle SA launch of Glamour magazine

JWT Cape Town has been appointed to handle the launch of the South African edition of Glamour magazine due to make its sensational local debut in early 2004. With serious budget spend being allocated to its launch, JWT Cape Town is presently developing a significant through-the-line campaign utilising TV, Outdoor and Print media.

Says Raymond Kieser, Managing Director of JWT Cape Town, "We are delighted about this appointment and the opportunity to be able to launch such a successful global brand into the local marketplace." Adds Creative Director, Wendy Moorcroft, "JWT were involved in producing the stunning creative work for the magazine's launch in several European countries and we are pleased to be able to continue the association in South Africa."

Part of the Condé Nast stable, Glamour magazine has enjoyed huge success in Europe, becoming the fastest growing women's magazine in the UK, Italy, Germany, Poland and Greece. In South Africa, Glamour will benefit from the extensive magazine publishing experience of Condé Nast Independent Magazines Managing Director, Elizabeth Rees-Jones, Editor, Pnina Fenster and Advertisement Director, Shireen Ridgway.

The local edition will carry a mix of international and local content, with celebrity news, fashion must-haves, and insightful editorial all combined in a contemporary handbag-sized format at a highly desirable cover price.

Says Rees-Jones, "Glamour has researched very well in our target market of women between the ages of 16-34 and we are confident of being able to gain significant circulation in the local marketplace. Condé Nast magazines, the world over, are renowned for their quality visuals and reads. We look forward to being able to build a premium brand that will unashamedly bring glamour into the lives of all South African women."
