Auxiliary Toll Collector

Company: Pt Operational ServicesLocation: Pumulani Toll PlazaReports to: Plaza ManagerPosition Type: Entry-levelPurpose: Pt Operational Services would like to interview and train suitable candidates for future vacant positions. To comply with all contractual obligations, only applications from bona fide residents of Montana, Sinoville, Annlin, Mamelodi and East Lynne will be accepted. Proof of such residence will be required. To collect toll from motorists and to ensure that all toll collected is accounted for in accordance with legal requirements, the concession contract and Company policies and procedures. Important note: operations take place on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week, thus including weekends and public holidays. Successful applicants will also be required to work shifts.

Qualifications and Skills
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: 

• Grade 12
• Proven experience as a cashier in a user relations environment is essential.
• Good communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Excellent interpersonal relationship and conflict management experience.
• The ability to deal with road users in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Excellent numeracy skills
• Basic computer literacy
• High sense of integrity and trustworthiness
• The physical demands are those required to work on shift rotating basis in an office environment.
• The work environment characteristics are those encountered in a typical office environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Follow start of shift procedure.
• Use toll and lane equipment as prescribed.
• Classify vehicles as prescribed.
• Process all transactions as per the prescribed methods of payment.
• Report all incidents violations and malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor in the prescribed manner and recording of such.
• Handle cash and other documents in the prescribed manner.
• Follow end of shift procedure.
• Ensure toll booth is clean and tidy at all times.
• Ensure self person is neat and presentable while at work.
• Maintain excellent relations with road users.
• Comply with health and safety and security procedures at work.
