Line Producer

Job desription

Ensures that the show stays on schedule and within budget. Plays a crucial role in ensuring that the show is produced efficiently. Works closely with the Production Manager to ensure that all logistical aspects of the production are running smoothly. Reports to the Executive Producer.

Main Duties:

 Understand and evaluate the working budget against the objectives.
 Evaluate the scripts in terms of the objectives of the production available and make recommendations to the Director and Producer.
 Consult with the Executive Producer to make the best decisions, follow best procedure for the needs of the production, ensure that              decisions are made within budget and make all arrangements necessary to complete pre-production, production and post-production.
 Work closely with the Production Accountant to make sure that all payments are according to budget.
 Maintain cash flow for completion of all aspects of the production and create weekly and monthly cost reports for internal production.
 Ensure that purchase orders and records of payments are kept.
 Estimate, manage and control the petty cash required for the various shooting locations/periods.
 Make sure that all expenses are accounted for and a petty cash book is kept.
 Make sure all creditor commitments are written and presented in good time for the accountant to process payment.
 Evaluate upcoming expenses and compare these to the budget, making sure that no unanticipated or planned overspends are made.
 Where overspends are made the Line Producer must make sure that these are perfected by prior savings elsewhere in the budget.
 Where the Line Producer is not able to find an equal saving, notification of such possible overspends should be communicated to the Executive Producer.
 Reconcile the books of expenditure and petty cash together with the accountant and ensure that an accurate monthly cost report is delivered.
 On completion of the season, the Line Producer will ensure that all creditors have been paid, any commitments to complete have been posted with the Accountant and that all documents and records pertaining to the production are handed over.

Human Resource Department

 Keep constant communication with the HR Manager and Producers to employ the most appropriate and best available heads of                    department.
 When booking cast and crew, the Line Producer, in liaison and agreement with the HR Manager, will make sure that the relevant                  contracts, insurance and other industry standard basic conditions of service and practice are adhered to.

 Ensure that all cast and crew personal details, in line with the HR Manager processes are kept on file.
 Ensure that all cast and crew members are capable and performing their duties to create the best possible production required.
 Ensure that all departments communicate effectively and that all elements of the production are in place.
 Ensure that all staff treat each other with mutual respect with regards to company HR policies and codes of good conduct.

Post Production

 Ensure that the logistics of the music composition and recording are in place.
 Ensure that all logistics for the post production are in place and that the relevant stock is ordered and delivered.
 Ensure that all completed episodes are delivered as required.
 Ensure that HOD’s responsible for travelling external drives and raided hard drives are stored, kept safely at the end of production and        returned.
 At the end of production, the Line Producer must ensure that a textless and texted master in HD of each episode is kept for the                  Production in a raided external hard drive.
