PackMark Service and Installation Technician

An exciting opportunity has become available at Pyrotec for a Service and Installation Technician at our JHB branch.

Our PackMark division supplies world-class coding, marking and labelling equipment, consumables and technical support solutions to customers across a wide range of industries. The division is known for its reliability, service excellence, and ability to provide innovative product identification solutions that add value to customer operations.

Similarly, PackLink is our comprehensive smart factory software solution designed to optimise production processes and maximise efficiency across manufacturing lines. By seamlessly integrating with existing systems and hardware, PackLink enhances visibility, minimizes downtime, and empowers real-time decision-making, ultimately driving overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

Pyrotec is looking for a technically strong, driven and proactive service and installation technician who can take ownership of service and installations as well as projects within our JHB branch from start to finish; these projects which involve both the PackMark and PackLink divisions in terms of equipment and software. The successful candidate will not be required to be knowledgeable around software, whilst it could be advantageous. The ideal candidate must be able to manage and perform installations, lead technical operations, liaise directly with customers, and ensure efficiently and professionalism.

Requirements:

• Qualified artisan – red seal / trade test essential
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant technical experience – post qualification
• Project management and supervisory experience – advantageous
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
• Experience managing installations and project rollouts
• Computer literate (MS Office essential)
• Valid driver’s licence
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Willingness to travel when required

Responsibilities:

• Conduct, manage and supervise (where necessary) installations, repairs and servicing of labelling and coding machinery
• Plan, coordinate and oversee project installations from start to completion
• Conduct customer site surveys and propose technical solutions
• Fault-find, repair and maintain machinery and equipment
• Coordinate technicians, apprentices and support staff
• Ensure projects are completed within required timelines and standards
• Train customers and employees on machinery and equipment
• Assist with design, development and modification of equipment
• Maintain workshop stock, spares and consumables
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping, health and safety compliance
• Attend to customer queries and provide technical support
• Follow up on technical sales leads and assist with customer relationship management
• Complete all required documentation, reports and job cards accurately and timeously
• Assist with exhibitions, demonstrations and ad hoc technical duties when required
