Deal for Pick n Pay staff
Pick n Pay and South African labour union Saccawu have reached a two-year remuneration deal, the retailer said last week. Staff would receive an across-the-board increase of R410 in year one, and R415 in year two. All variable-time employees would work for a minimum guaranteed 85 hours per month, with the 60 hours per month category falling away. The first year's wage increase would be backdated to 1 March 2008.
