Sponsors save lives, bring in big guns

Sponsors add to the health of the country as the Protea Hotels Hospitality Group sign on as the official accommodation sponsor for 2011 for the PinkDrive and Emirates, as the title sponsor and official airline of the South Africa Sevens event, brings the adrenalin-pumping action to the home turf for South African rugby fans.

The PinkDrive, a non-profit organisation powering mobile mammography and an educational unit through the country with the message that 'Early Detection Saves Lives,' currently runs two 'Pink' mobile breast check units servicing both the corporate and private sectors. "We are bringing breast health to SA women in both the private and public sectors and providing sustainable harmonious systems for ongoing health. We function with the support of various champions such as Protea Hotels that can fly the flag and assist us in sustaining our cause. Their 2011 sponsorship will play a vital role in our organisations development and growth," said Noelene Kotschan CEO of the PinkDrive.

Rugby thrills

Sixteen teams, including South Africa, New Zealand, USA, Australia, Hong Kong, England and Scotland will compete against each other in George in the Western Cape, host of the second leg of the Emirates Airline South Africa 2010/11 HSBC Sevens World Series. The tournament will take place on 10-11 December 2010 at the Outeniqua Stadium.

"This year's tournament is particularly special, with rugby fever set to grip the globe as we countdown to the sport's showpiece event - the IRB Rugby World Cup 2011, of which Emirates is a worldwide partner," said Fouad Caunhye, regional manager of Emirates Southern Africa.

"This event is a further example of our partnership with the IRB, which extends to being title sponsor of three events on the World Sevens Series schedule - the Dubai, London and Edinburgh Sevens - as well as all IRB referees and match officials."

The Springbok Sevens will play the next leg of the tournament in Wellington, New Zealand on 4-5 February 2011.
