Etihad discounts fares for World Cup escapees

Those trying to escape the 2010 World Cup in South Africa will be pleased to hear that Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is offering South African passengers discounted fares to the Middle East and Europe during the World Cup season.

Craig Thomas, Etihad Airways country manager in South Africa said: "We have opened up availability for sale on most flights between 11 June and 11 July, which includes discounted fares for customers in South Africa who may not be attending the World Cup and would like to travel overseas during this time."

Customers can travel from Johannesburg and Cape Town to the Middle East from R6683; London from R7642; Dublin from R7020; and a number of destinations in continental Europe from R7020. All fares are inclusive of all taxes.
