!NABA Food and Wine Festival returns to the Northern Cape

For the third year running, the !NABA Food and Wine Festival will take place in Upington from 4-6 August 2016. The festival, which is the first and only food and wine show held in the Northern Cape, will showcase local products from the region at the Upington Expo Grounds.

A ‘!Naba’, or Kalahari truffle, is a potato-like delicacy with intricate flavouring and is a well-suited name to the Festival which aims to showcase local talent at its highest quality.

On 4 August, visitors can enjoy the opening function which will include a wine pairing, followed by the main events which will be held on 5 and 6 August. The festival is aimed at visitors from across the country, and world, that love to cook, are health conscious, are passionate about good food and wine, enjoy exploring new cuisines, and are interested in learning about new trends.

Visitors to the !NABA Food and Wine Festival may expect local and national wines, craft beers, liqueurs, food and food related products, demonstrations and live entertainment amidst the Green Kalahari.

The exhibitors

Amongst those that will participate in the !NABA Food and Wine Festival 2016 are Orange River Cellars, Vrouenspan Kase, Diamond T Coffeeshop, Delheim Wines, Cederberg Wines, Alto Rouge, Zonnebloem, Gonedsa with Dutch Cheese, Scandalous Foodtruck, Stickman Brewery, New Beginnings Toffees, The Private Hotel School Stellenbosch and many more.

The Festival aimes to provide a platform for exhibitors to connect with new customers, launch their products and generate brand awareness to consumers and local restaurants and guesthouses.

Tickets are available to purchase on Webtickets at R120 for adults, which includes a wine glass for the various tastings, a magazine and tasting coupons for the different stalls. Tickets are R60 for children between the ages of seven and 16, and free entrance to pre-schoolers.

THE !NABA FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL 2016 EVENTS

Thursday, 4 August:
On Thursday, 4 August, the !NABA Food and Wine Festival will host a pairing event, which serves as the opening function for the Festival.
The pairing will take place at 18.30 for 19.00, in the main social tent, at the !NABA Food and Wine Festival - Upington Expo Grounds
Only 100 tickets, at R250 per person, are available for this pairing event

The tickets are available to purchase at Stolpers in Upington and through the !NABA Food and Wine Festival Office az.oc.eniwdnadoofaban@ofni()
The tickets include a pairing of eight different wines, whiskeys, liquors and beers, entertainment provided by Tobie Jooste and a delicious snack platter for each guest.

Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 August:
The official !NABA Food and Wine Festival will open from 12.00–20.00 on Friday, 5 August, and from 10.00–19.00 on Saturday, 6 August. Visitors will be treated to exhibitions with top quality products, braai competitions, as well as demonstrations. Entertainment for young and old will be provided, as well as a new Whiskey and Cigar Lounge.
