"This is long overdue as South Africa has been one of his biggest markets, achieving double-Platinum status for his album sales," said concert promoter Godfrey Vollenhoven of Marmalade Productions. He will perform in a three-city tour with the best local acts on the Divos bill in each city: Boardwalk Casino, Port Elizabeth featuring Gino Lee, Black ties ft. Chad Saaiman, Robin P and MC Ashley Pienaar; Grand Arena Grandwest, Cape Town featuring Black ties ft. Chad Saaiman, Jimmy Nevis and Emo Adams; and Carnival City, Joburg featuring Donald, Black ties ft. Chad Saaiman and more to follow.

Campbell's achievements include appearing on Quincy Jones' LP "Back on the Block" and featuring on Tomorrow (A Better You, A Better Me), which hit No.1 on the R&B charts in June 1990. Later that year, he appeared in Prince's Graffiti Bridge film singing Round And Round, which Prince wrote for him. He also appeared on the soundtrack to Boyz in the Hood singing Just Ask Me To, a Top-10 R&B hit in 1991.

A huge international commercial success

All of this set the stage for his debut album, 1991's "T.E.V.I.N.", which went Platinum and spawned two R&B chart-toppers: Tell Me What You Want Me to Do and Alone With You, as well as the R&B top-five hit Goodbye. "I'm Ready," released two years later, achieved double-Platinum status and featured three R&B chart hits: the number one Can We Talk?, I'm Ready, which went top five; and Always In My Heart, which reached the top 10. Campbell's compilation album "The Best of Campbell" was a huge international commercial success, reaching multi-Platinum status in Africa, Japan and London.

In recent years, Campbell has taken Broadway by storm playing the role of Seaweed J Stubbs in the hit musical Hairspray (he joined the cast in December 2005). Campbell reprised his role of Seaweed in the Melbourne and Sydney, Australia productions of the hit musical.
