Walk down memory lane with a Fairlady

Fairlady magazine has launched the Fairlady Collection edited by columnist Marianne Thamm. The Collection looks back at the lives of SA icons at momentous times in our history and features a broad selection of writing. Included are Dr Mamphela Ramphele, Leah Tutu, Albertina Sisulu, Zinzi Mandela, Gcina Mhlope, Dr Harriet Sibisi and Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

Revisit Alan Boesak's challenge of the Nationalist Government in 1983; Mamphela Ramphele, banned and living in Tzaneen, also in 1983; the once lone Prog in parliament, Helen Suzman in 1977; Maria Ramos as 'Fiscal Spice' in 2001; Hazel Crane as Winnie Mandela's confidante in 1996 and, gearing up for the long struggle ahead, Zachie Achmat in 2001.

The nostalgic anthology recreates our turbulent past while dealing with the challenges of the present.
