For the love of advertising

SABC, one of the sponsors of the 2006 Loerie Advertising Festival, and Tequila\Johannesburg launched a tongue-in-cheek campaign exclusively for all the advertising (and media) folk in Margate as they gathered this weekend for the top South African advertising awards.

The Campaign is a series of 20 posters, coasters and buttons that feature a set of advertising words with a twist: "bodycorpy" - the chunk of words at the bottom of every Financial Services ad - and "deja-view" - the sneaking suspicion that a creative concept has been done before. Such terms and more are no longer missing from the ad person's vocabulary.

Yvette Potgieter, SABC events manager, says that the payoff line for the campaign "For the love of advertising" perfectly expresses how the SABC views its relationship with the advertising industry.

"The SABC is sponsoring the Loeries for three years. It is our way of showing our appreciation for the industry that helps make our TV and radio channels even more entertaining," she explains.

The creative team behind the campaign is copywriter Lisa Bayliss, art director Margie Backhouse, and executive creative director Mathew Barnes.
