New Nampak competition on social media

Nampak Bevcan is running competitions via social networking sites to find talented South Africans who show it what they can do with cans. Demonstrate a talent, dance, sing, make music or do a crazy trick; film it and post it on YouTube. Videos with the most views will be in the running for the big prize. All entries must be in by 30 September 2012.

Erik Smuts, Nampak Bevcan MD, says, "The aim of the marketing campaign is to encourage consumers to choose cans and also to reward artistic talent. We are hoping to unearth and award exceptionally talented aspiring artists through the Can-B-Famous competition.

"The Can-B-Scene campaign takes to the streets of our townships, which are synonymous with great vibrancy, entertainment and talent. To give the can a 'human aspect' making it part of the fun and excitement of any party, paparazzi will spot and snap Can doers at the participating Can-B-Scene outlets and make them famous on Facebook. We will give away 50 Blackberry phones and R200 000 in cash prizes to give away for the duration of the campaign."

Outlet owner, Thandi from De K's Place in Katlehong said, "Since I've started getting advertising on the CAN do Gig-Guide, the number of people attending our gigs has increased. The Gig-Guide also helps my outlet to reach people outside of Katlehong, an achievement I have always wished for."

The best entries into the CAN-B-Famous competition will have the opportunity to perform at the annual Soweto Beer Festival, to be held from 28-31 October, at SHAP Stadium. The four-day event celebrates the vibrancy of Soweto - with local and international beer brands, entertainment, local cuisine, fashion and colourful arts and crafts.
