    It's raining election sites

The South African general elections date has been set to Wednesday, 22 April 2009, and two top-level domain media websites have been launched since the weekend: Polity.org.za by Creamer Media and SAelections.co.za by the The Times.

Polity.org.za, which launched on Saturday 14 February, aims to enabling South Africa's voters to make an informed choice in the upcoming elections.

The site offers access to election-related news, as well as speeches, party announcements, Independent Electoral Commission announcements, and weblinks to party websites. In addition, the site allows users to download the election manifestos of all parties that have launched such documents electronically, enabling users to understand what the various parties stand for.

SAelections.co.za, which launched today, Tuesday 17 February, via the social web. Apart from showcasing political coverage by The Times, it also aggregates content from other South African news sites and allows readers to vote for their party of choice.
