    Pendoring gets international recognition

The ADCN, the organisation representing the Dutch advertising industry's creative, annually hosts an exhibition in Amsterdam where the best ads of the country are on display. Pendoring has for the first time been invited this year, to participate in the international exhibition, after the ADCN became aware of the impact and creativity of Afrikaans advertisements, following the presence of Dutch judges at the local annual event.

Arjen de Jong, creative director of Cygnus X-3 and last year's international judge at Pendoring, as well as Peter van Leeuwen, a previous judge, were the main role-players behind this invitation. Thanks to two partners, Absa and Lufthansa, the invitation to Amsterdam has became a reality, and will also see a special 'South Africa evening', to take place on Wednesday, 23 February.

The South African evening promises to be a very special event, with multi-awarded Francois de Villiers, creative director, FCB Cape Town, doing an amusing presentation on advertising in South Africa. KWV has donated brandy and wine for the evening and Pendoring's organisers will attempt to treat the Dutch to some truly South African dishes. To top off, local music distributor JNS is donating a number of complimentary cds of top Afrikaans artists as gifts to those present.

Laetitia van Dyk, group executive director of Absa, says it is an honour for the banking group to be involved with the exhibition in Amsterdam: "It's a feather in South Africa's cap, and specifically Afrikaans advertising, to participate at an international showcase where the best Netherlands ads will be on display. For us it is an investment in the growth and awareness of the total advertising industry of our country."

Gabriel Leupold, general manager, Lufthansa, southern and east Africa, says: "As a global airline with a network that spans the world and connects people across five continents, we know how important it is to achieve and maintain standards that are competitive in the international arena."

The exhibitions takes place from 21 to 25 February in Amsterdam and all South Africans living in the Netherlands are welcome to attend.
