      Monitoring and evaluation form a vital part of our operations and allow us to measure the impact of our grants, operations, and projects. This ensures accountability to our funders and stakeholders.

      Digify Africa seeks to employ a part-time Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Officer to manage all our Research and M&E aspects. The Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation (RME) Officer will design, coordinate, and implement the organisation's monitoring, evaluation,
      research, and learning framework. They will develop a systematic monitoring framework to improve the qualitative and quantitative evidence gathered by the programmes. Additionally, the RME Officer will work closely with the external independent consultant,
      ensuring alignment and integration of RM&E activities.

      The key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      Setting up the system
      • Assist in the development and/or finalisation of the Project Work Plans and keep them updated with project activities and timeframes as relevant.
      • Assist in the development and/or update the theory of change and M&E plan for each programme.
      • Assist in developing baseline data for each project component and for all project indicators.
      • Assist in developing the overall framework for project M&E, such as mid-term project review, impact assessment, and final evaluation, and create a project Performance Monitoring Plan with relevant data collection systems.
      • Review the quality of existing data in the project subject areas, the methods of collecting it, and the degree to which it will provide good baseline statistics for impact evaluation.
      • Review existing approaches and management information systems with collaborating team members and agree on any required changes, support, and resources.
      • Develop a plan for project-related capacity-building on M&E and for any computer-based support that may be required.
      • Organise and undertake training with collaborating team members on M&E as required.
      Implementation of M&E and coordination:
      • Collect data regularly to measure achievement against the performance indicators.
      • Check data quality with team members
      • Maintain and administer the M&E database; analyse and aggregate findings.
      • Support project progress reporting, project mid-term review and final evaluation.
      • Identify areas where technical support to project partners is required. Organise refresher training on M&E for team members as required.
      • Identify lessons learned and develop case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project.
      • Provide advice to the supervisor on improving project performance using M&E findings.
      Research activities:
      • Conduct literature reviews to support developing project frameworks and methodologies.
      • Design and implement research methodologies to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
      • Analyse research data to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to project objectives.
      • Collaborate with team members to integrate research findings into project planning and execution.
      • Prepare detailed research reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
      • Stay updated with research trends and best practices in M&E and related fields.
      • Provide training and support to team members on research methodologies and data analysis techniques
      Support for independent contractor agreement:
      • Assist the RM&E Consultant in developing or updating each programme's theory of change and M&E plan.
      • Support the RM&E Consultant in developing baseline data for each project component and all indicators.
      • Assisted in creating the overall framework for project M&E, including the mid-term project review, impact assessment, and final evaluation, and developed a project Performance Monitoring Plan with relevant data collection systems.
      • Help identify lessons learned and develop case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project.
      • Provide advice to the RM&E Consultant on enhancing project performance using M&E findings.
      • Assist in designing and implementing research methodologies to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
      Communication
      • Produce reports on M&E findings and prepare presentations based on M&E data as required.
      • Provide the Head of Project and team members with the required management information.Check that monitoring data is discussed in appropriate forums and in a timely fashion regarding implications for future action. If necessary, create such discussions to fill any gaps.
      Knowledge, skills and abilities
      • Postgraduate in Monitoring and Evaluation, OR have at least 3 years of experience managing M&E systems at a credible organisation(s).
      • Knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their application in project frameworks.
      • Understanding of Gender, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and its integration within M&E frameworks and reporting.
      • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
      • Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Excel).
      • Ability to conduct interviews, focus groups, and case studies.
      • Experience with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo).
      • Strong skills in writing detailed monitoring and evaluation reports.
      • Ability to synthesise data and present findings clearly and concisely.
      • Be able to work self-directed.
      • Have access to a reliable internet connection(s).
      • Have excellent written and spoken English skills.
      • Understand current M&E trends, especially M&E systems in training and development organisations.
      • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to keep up with a fast-paced and dynamic innovation team, PMS and their projects.
      • Broad and in-depth knowledge of project management cycles as related to the development sector
      • Advanced knowledge of how to derive value from various projects to enable high-quality reports for funders and sponsors

      This is a part-time role. The candidate is expected to work part-time (80 hours) a month doing activities for Digify Foundation.
