Job description
Key roles and responsibilities:- Lecture and assess contact learning students in the Higher Certificate – Preschool Education and in the Bachelor of Education - Foundation Phase Programmes in the following modules:
o Creative Arts 2
o Creative Arts 3
o Teaching Creative Arts
o Arts Education 1: Visual
o Arts Education 2: Music and Movement
o Introduction to Research
- Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
- Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
- Provide academic support to students.
- Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
- Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
- Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
- Contribute to programme development, scholarship, and teaching excellence
- Engage in professional development, community engagement, and institutional support
- Provide Distance Learning tutoring support to students enrolled in Creative Arts modules
- Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
Qualification and Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum Honours in English and Bachelor of Education or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Creative Arts (Visual Arts and Music and Movement).
- At least 3 years of teaching and/or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/discipline.
- Knowledge and understanding of subject matter.
- Experience in curriculum and materials development.
- Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Sound teaching and assessment skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
- Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
