Freelance Marketing and Communications Consultant
I have spent the last twenty years actively involved in all disciplines of marketing from strategy to implementation. I began my career in the marketing department of Table Top Foods (McCain Foods) before launching my own marketing consultancy, Turquoise Twilight, in 1997.
Career highlights in the private sector include the re-launch and branding of Economy Car Hire to Barlow Car Rental; the launch of a new financial services company for the Mineworkers Investment Company and the National Union of Mineworkers, as well as developing and growing the brands of clients such as Kimberly- Clark South Africa, Nestlé, Tiger Milling and Henkel South Africa.
I have also worked on many public initiatives and therefore have enormous experience navigating between the different spheres of government. I was commissioned by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) to develop and implement their 5 year communications strategy in 2002. During my time there I was instrumental in ensuring the timeous design and delivery of many SALGA projects including the National General Council (NGC) Conference, World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), Commonwealth Local Government Forum and Local Government Elections.
In addition, I have worked with a number of Municipalities including but not limited to Mangaung, Buffalo City, Ekurhuleni, City of Johannesburg, Mahikeng and Mogale City. In 2010 I was the project lead in the Soccer World Cup initiatives in the Eastern Cape, with specific emphasis on the rural areas surrounding East London. For the past 6 years I have worked on the Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise (LimDev) business and communications strategy, implementing projects throughout the Limpopo Province.
In 2011, I worked on the Census awareness and mobilisation Campaign and in 2012 on the Sanlam Roadshow to market Sanlam policies to entry level foundation markets around the country.
