Mapi Mhlangu was previously the head of News Assignments, which included managing the reporting pool. In confirming her appointment head of eNCA, Patrick Conroy, says "Mapi Mhlangu has a thorough understanding of eNCA's needs and a vision of what is required to maintain our dominance in the 24 hour news space. As the former head of Assignments she set the news agenda and determined the direction stories should take. Her leadership in this role made her the obvious choice to replace Seamus Reynolds."

Seamus Reynolds now moves into the post of managing editor. Conroy says "Reynolds has been a tower of strength in this role to date and we are greatly indebted to him for all he has done since the channel launched. He now officially moves into the new role of managing editor which is an important new addition to our management structure. He has been doing both jobs for several months without complaint. He has gotten us through some very tough times and I want to sincerely thank him for all he has done."
