PVC recycling in SA shows promising growth despite tough trading conditions
The Southern African Vinyls Association (Sava) has welcomed the plastics recycling report for 2020 released by Plastics SA, indicating that the recycling of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or vinyl products in South Africa recorded a year-on-year increase of 9.5%. Despite very difficult trading conditions owing to global raw material shortages and supply chain issues, high material costs, interrupted electricity supply due to load shedding and the ravaging effects of Covid-19 on the industry, PVC was one of the only plastic polymers in the country that managed to report an increase of its annual recycling figures. 7 Feb 2022 Read more

Global and local PVC community rejects Plastics Pact's list of "problematic plastics"
The Southern African Vinyls Association (Sava), supported by members of the Global Vinyls Council (GVC), has rejected the Phase 1 list of "problematic and unnecessary plastics" published recently by the SA Plastics Pact. Plastics industry releases latest recycling figures
Plastics SA, the umbrella body representing the local plastics industry, has just released the official plastic recycling stats for the year ending 31 December 2020. Each year, data is collected from plastics recyclers around the country by Plastix 911 on behalf of Plastics SA.
