Founded in 1998, Merchant West provides tailor-made lending, treasury, working capital, investments and wealth management solutions to corporates, SMEs and high-net-worth individuals.

With offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, George, Durban, Nelspruit, Port Elizabeth, Namibia and North Carolina USA, Merchant West lending products extend to bespoke asset finance (across an extensive range of asset classes), fleet finance, specialised funding, and property finance solutions.

We have two main areas of focus: Advisory Services and Lending Solutions.

Advisory Services:

Merchant West Investments:
A multi-strategy asset management business managing local and international portfolios. Our portfolios include money market, fixed income, property, various equity strategies and an outcome-based solution (Payers and Growers). Our investors are both individuals and institutions.

Merchant West Incompass:
A provider of treasury products and solutions for corporate and individual clients, such as forex, cash, and risk management. We focus on cost-effective solutions for importers/exporters whilst navigating currency volatility in international money transfers. Our services encompass diverse options such as Treasury Outsourcing and Foreign Investment Allowance advice.

Sterling Private Wealth:
A niche wealth management company providing focused holistic wealth management advice and services to entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and retirees. This includes advice in respect of local and global assets, both within formal retirement vehicles and in discretionary assets, across all asset classes.

Lending Solutions:

Merchant West Asset Finance:
We finance a diverse range of movable assets to the individual and SME/ Business/ Corporate market. We offer products including Instalment Sales, Operating Rentals, Sales, and Leasebacks to cover all customer requirements.

Merchant West Fleet:
Provides fleet management solutions on mobile assets through our Full Maintenance Lease, Operating Lease and Lease to Own offerings. Our services include procurement, funding, managing, reporting on, and disposing of your fleet of vehicles.

Merchant West Working Capital:
Provides short-term bridge finance to companies by using their debtor and stock assets as security. Our offering includes Full Book invoice discounting, Single Invoice discounting, stock finance, purchase order finance and trade finance.

Merchant West Specialised Finance:
Provides structuring and funding solutions for clients with large financing requirements by leveraging its relationships with non-bank funders. These solutions are available to clients with sizable balance sheets, exhibiting good credit quality, the solutions are especially useful to clients who want to diversify their investor base.

Merchant West Property Finance:
Provides finance to purchase owner-occupied commercial properties with purchase values ranging between R5m and R30m. This finance could be for the acquisition of a new property or to refinance an existing property. This offering excludes property development and residential properties.
