Harmony Gold appoints Peter Steenkamp as CEO

Harmony Gold on Monday, 9 November, announced the appointment of Peter Steenkamp as its new CEO. This after it said in July that Graham Briggs would retire.

Steenkamp previously spent four years at Harmony as chief operating officer. His most recent job was as senior vice-president of mining at Sasol Mining. Prior to this he also held executive positions at African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Pamodzi Gold.

"Returning to the gold sector and to Harmony is like coming home. The company has demonstrated its resilience during recent challenging times and has been positioned for profitability by the management team.

"I am committed to ensuring that Harmony creates value for all its stakeholders and is a globally competitive company," said Steenkamp.
