Konkola Mines and Absa projects awarded to 4ward-design

After successfully completing a video conferencing project for Zambian Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), 4ward-design has been reappointed by KCM to design an identical system. To attribute to their attainment, the Video Conferencing and Home Automation specialist was also awarded the special Absa Tower Video Wall project in Johannesburg.

The additional KCM system will be installed in the second office in Chililabombwe on the Zambian copper belt and will mirror the executive boardroom solution which was installed in the KCM Lusaka Head Office in June.

Konkola Copper Mines, an integrated copper producer, is a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources Plc, a London-listed diversified FTSE 100 metals and mining group with operations in India, Australia, Namibia, South Africa, Ireland and Zambia. The brief from KCM was for 4ward-design to once again deliver a boardroom solution with a design which integrates and controls its various aspects via a Crestron control system.

Management systems will be monitored

"KCM has acknowledged the harmony and simplicity in their technology experience with the boardroom solution. The elements that are controlled in these systems are the Polycom HD Video Conference System, control of all the VC lights, projector, motorised projector screen, blinds and the DSTV system," says Derek Olivier, co-founder of 4ward-design.

One of South Africa's largest financial services groups, Absa Bank, has appointed 4ward-design to deliver a masterpiece turnkey control room solution in the Absa Towers in central Johannesburg. "This prodigious room will be used to monitor building management systems of the Absa campus and will include eight 46" LCD monitors, a video wall controller, sound proofing of the room, furniture and carpet fit-out," says Olivier.

The video wall as well as the information feeds will be controlled by operators via Crestron Control System.
