Defending The Caveman, although performed many times, is still an original and true comedy. And it is this truthfulness that makes it a laugh-a-minute performance. The main theme is the differences between men and women. Why women can multitask and men can't; how men negotiate and women co-operate. And, somehow, he manages to relate everything back to the caveman.
Alan Committie has the ability to interact with the audience on a very familiar level that pulls you further into the performance, even though it is a monologue-based comedy.
It is a show that has to be seen, rather than described. The gestures and expressions that Committie portrays defy description, which would not do justice to the genius of his comedy. The only way to find out is to go to the Theatre On The Bay and witness it for yourself.
Oh, and a word of advice: don't be late because Alan will point you out and have a little laugh at your expense.
