Dubstep pioneer and DJ, Plastician, is en route to South Africa in November to headline the British Council Connect ZA and Live SA's two #FutureMusic Rising events.
Plastician announced as headline act for #FutureMusic Rising

The final 2013 event in the British Council Connect ZA and Live SA #FutureMusic series, #FutureMusic Rising, takes place on Friday, 8 November in Joburg and Saturday, 9 November, 2013, in Cape Town. The hunt is on for one talented emerging South African act to play at the Roundhouse Rising Festival in London in February 2014.

Hailing from Croydon, Surrey, Chris Reed was at the crest of the early wave of dubstep and grime, making an impact (still as Plasticman) back in 2004 as a producer on Rephlex's grime compilation, among other productions.

Since then, Plastician has released tracks on labels like ROAD, Soulja, OWSLA and Trouble & Bass, and also runs his own imprint, Terrorhythm Recordings.

Keeping the soul of the genre intact

In 2013, he earned critical acclaim for "Dubstep Allstars: Vol. 10", which he mixed. In its review of the album, the BBC credited Plastician with keeping the soul of the genre intact. He now plays a weekly radio show on Rinse FM and is noted for being the first DJ to play tracks by Emalkay, Joker, 12th Planet and more.

As the headline DJ for November's #FutureMusic Rising, Plastician will cap two nights of thrilling music as emerging South African acts vie for a place at the Roundhouse Rising Festival in London.
