Tourism Radio targets Canada

Travel technology innovator Tourism Radio has announced that it will soon open its doors to tourists in Canada. From its beginnings in Cape Town, the company has already expanded over the last nine years to New Zealand and Spain.

Tourism Radio's CEO, Hayden Braddock, said that he now has eyes firmly set on North America: "Canada is the perfect market for our patented travel guide technology. We'll be launching in-car tour-guide devices using Nokia hardware, as well as a range of mobile audio guides for iPhone, Android and Windows devices. Mobile usage figures from across the world continue to rise exponentially and we're set to take advantage of this in the as-yet-untouched Canadian travel market."

Braddock said that the company hopes to emulate the successes seen in New Zealand, adding that operations in Canada will follow a similar model: "In New Zealand we've noted that the average self-drive tourist stays in the country for about 14 days. We're expecting similar figures in Canada, due to the country's rich heritage and abundance of scenic wonders. It's the ideal location for travellers looking to explore the country in their own time."

Tremendous interactive value

Julie-Anna van Meekeren will be heading up operations in Canada; she's the entrepreneurial driving force behind introducing the company to North America. Van Meerkeren said: "Bringing Tourism Radio to Canada has already been an experience like no other. We hope to offer our users tremendous interactive value while they visit this diverse country and, in so doing, we hope to inspire visitors to explore well-known points of interest across Canada, as well as discover hidden gems that are off the normal tourist track."

The setting up of Tourism Radio Canada is currently underway, with an official launch in the Nova Scotia region of Canada expected in September 2014. Tourism Radio offerings across the rest of the country should follow soon thereafter.

Tourism Radio Canada will provide users with a comprehensive mobile audio guide of the country, using patented technology to tailor make guides as users drive around the country, or take a sight-seeing stroll around a particular city area.
