    SA whiskies win awards

    Two major UK spirit competitions, the 2010 International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) held in Surrey this week and the 2010 International Spirits Challenge (ISC) held in London and announced last week saw South African whiskies win gold, silver and bronze awards.

    The Three Ships Select and Three Ships Premium Select 5-year-old earned gold and best in class awards at the IWSC and Three Ships Bourbon Cask Finish received gold, the Three Ships Premium Select 5-year-old silver and the Three Ships Select earned a bronze medal at the ISC.

    Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky, recently making its debut in the international competitive arena, received a gold and best-in-class at IWSC and a silver award at the ISC. It is available from leading liquor outlets at around R155 per 750ml bottle.

    Both whisky brands are produced at the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington.
