With regards to Kraaifontein, this is a result of a need to replace the containers for builders' rubble, whereas in the case of Athlone, a capacity upgrade needs to be completed before this service can resume. It is expected that containers at Kraaifontein will be replaced before 1 July 2021, and that the capacity upgrade at Athlone will be completed before the end of May.

Materials are still being accommodated at Bellville, Coastal Park and Vissershok facilities, or at drop-offs for residential customers. However, there is the possibility of temporary capacity challenges at these facilities due to increased volumes of this material being received, the city has said, and at times it may be necessary to redirect customers to the closest alternative.
