Key roles and responsibilities:- Lecture and assess distance learning students in the bachelor of education foundation phase programs for the following modules:
- SWFA100 - Setswana first additional language 1
- SWFAF200 - Setswana first additional language for foundation phase 2
- LCSW152 - Language conversational Setswana - S2a
- LCSW152 - Language conversational Setswana - S2b
- SWLI201 - Literacy Setswana home language 1 - S1a
- SWLI201 - Literacy Setswana home language 1 - S1b
- SWLI301 - Literacy Setswana home language 2 - S1a
- SWLI301 - Literacy Setswana Home Language 2 - S1b
- LSWA302 - Literacy Setswana first additional language - S2a
- LSWA302 - Literacy Setswana first additional language - S2b
- SWHL100 - Setswana home language 1
- SWHLF200 - Setswana home language for foundation phase 2
- Perform the role and responsibilities of a lecturer
- Engage with and provide feedback to module coordinators to improve teaching and learning
- Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
- Participate in relevant programme, curriculum and material development.
- Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
- Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments.
- Provide academic support to students.
- Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
- Participate in research and community engagement projects.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
- Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
- Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
- Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
- Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
- Improve the quality of own teaching through the scholarship of teaching & learning
Qualification and minimum requirements: - Bachelor of education minimum honours or equivalent qualification with relevant studies in literacy Setswana, Setswana home Language, language conversational Setswana, Setswana first additional language.
- At least 3 years of teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/discipline.
- Must be in possession of a relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience in curriculum and materials development.
- Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.
- Good subject matter expertise.
Knowledge and skills:- Sound teaching and assessment skills.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
- Willingness to work on Saturdays.
- Proficient in utilising digital tools/platforms and educational software to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
- Extensive marking and assessment experience within the higher education environment
- Strong administrative capabilities, including effective management of live documents and collaborative platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
