This role supports Rapid Solutions, one of our specialist Australian brands. Rapid Solutions offers professional indemnity and general liability insurance tailored to businesses operating in industries such as urban pest and weed control, building inspections, agricultural pest and weed control, handyman and cleaning services, fumigation, and more.
About the roleThis is a highly technical, non-mandated role responsible for the triage, oversight, and administration of pre-litigated and litigated claims. You will act as a critical link between the Rapid Claims Consultants and the Rapid CEO, providing legal and technical review, strategic insight, and proactive reporting to ensure claims are managed effectively and with foresight.
Rather than managing claims end-to-end, your focus will be on technical assessment, legal correspondence, file governance, and strategic support, ensuring indemnity and liability positions are robust, clearly articulated, and aligned with business objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesTriage and technical review- Triage all litigated and pre-litigated matters referred by the Rapid CEO.
- Review indemnity and liability assessments for alignment with policy terms, legal principles, and risk appetite.
- Identify matters requiring escalation, early intervention, or external legal involvement.
- Provide clear, practical recommendations on indemnity, liability exposure, and next step.
Legal and technical correspondence- Draft high-quality correspondence to insureds, brokers, claimants, and external stakeholders relating to:
- Strategic and procedural updates
- Ensure all communication is legally sound, commercially appropriate, and aligned with brand standards.
- Support the CEO by preparing communications for review and sign-off.
Litigated claims administration- Manage the administrative lifecycle of litigated files, including:
- File setup and structuring
- Ongoing review and status tracking
- Monitor and communicate key deadlines, risks, and developments.
Executive support and reporting- Provide concise, forward-looking updates to the Rapid CEO, including:
- Anticipate issues and proactively brief on potential outcomes and strategies.
- Maintain audit-ready file notes and documentation in line with governance standards.
Collaboration and capability uplift- Act as a technical advisor to Claims Consultants on complex matters.
- Promote consistency in approach across claims without assuming operational ownership.
- Contribute to improving claims processes, templates, and legal risk frameworks.
Minimum requirements- Matric / National Senior Certificate.
- Legal training or tertiary legal qualification (LLB or equivalent – admission not required)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in insurance, with exposure to commercial B2B lines, preferably in Professional Indemnity and/or General Liability.
- Experience with pre-litigated and litigated claims.
- Strong understanding of policy interpretation, indemnity, and liability principles.
- Exceptional written communication skills, particularly in legal drafting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex files and competing priorities.
Preferred experience and attributes- Experience working closely with senior executives or in an advisory capacity.
- Familiarity with claims systems and structured file governance.
- High attention to detail with strong legal and commercial judgment.
