Job description
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Department: Finance to lead and manage the full finance function. This role is responsible for overseeing financial planning, reporting, compliance, and governance, while supporting the organisation’s strategic objectives and ensuring financial sustainability.
Key duties and responsibilities:Financial strategy and leadership- Partner with the CFO to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making.
Financial management and reporting- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of management accounts and financial statements.
Compliance and governance- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and internal policies.
- Support audits and maintain strong internal controls.
Cash flow and treasury management- Lead the monitoring of cash flow, manage working capital, and oversee banking and treasury functions.
Budgeting and cost control- Lead annual budgeting processes.
- Monitor expenditure and implement cost control measures.
Stakeholder management- Engage with internal stakeholders, auditors, and external partners on financial matters.
Team leadership- Lead, develop, and manage the finance team to ensure high performance and accountability.
Minimum qualifications, experience: - Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- Professional qualification (CA(SA) preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in media, entertainment, or fast-paced environments advantageous.
Skills and knowledge:- Strong financial management and reporting expertise.
- Knowledge of financial regulations, tax, and compliance requirements.
- Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership and stakeholder management ability.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.
