Job description

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a commercially driven and relationship-focused individual to join The Rooms Network as a Commercial Partnerships and Media Sales Manager. This role is ideal for someone passionate about media, partnerships, and brand collaboration, someone eager to grow advertising and sponsorship revenue while shaping how brands connect with our audiences across The Rooms Network platforms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

 Sales Strategy and revenue growth:
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to grow advertising, sponsorship, and branded content revenue
  • Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets through effective planning and execution
  • Optimise airtime inventory and diversify revenue streams across linear TV, AFPs, and branded events
 Sponsorships, AFPs and branded solutions: 
  • Source, negotiate, and secure sponsorships for Advertiser-Funded Programming (AFPs) and The Rooms Network’s branded events
  • Develop integrated sales solutions aligned to advertiser objectives and channel audiences
  • Ensure brand alignment, audience relevance, and campaign effectiveness
 Internal and External stakeholder management:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Programming, Marketing, Research, and Finance to achieve sales objectives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with advertisers, media agencies, and brand partners
  • Manage client portfolios to drive long-term partnerships and repeat business
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication to support seamless execution of commercial campaigns
 Campaign Development and market positioning:
  • Develop insight-led sales proposals, including spot buys, sponsorships, and integrated content packages
  • Align sales offerings with audience share, market trends, and competitive positioning
  • Monitor market activity and competitor offerings to inform sales strategies and pricing
 Trade shows, events and brand representation: 
  • Track sales performance, campaign results, and revenue forecasts
  • Prepare regular sales reports and provide insights to support management decision-making
  • Manage sales-related budgets and ensure effective and efficient use of resources


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in media studies, Broadcasting, Communications, Business Management or a related field
  • Sales certification will be advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in media sales, TV advertising, or commercial partnerships
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and closing media and sponsorship deals
  • Experience in Advertiser-Funded Programming (AFP) and event-based sponsorships is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of the South African advertising and media agency landscape
 Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and commercial acumen
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic and analytical thinking
  • Results-driven and target-oriented approach
  • Proficiency in sales reporting tools
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
