Key roles and responsibilities:- Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in the BEd (foundation phase teaching) and the BEd (intermediate phaset teaching) programmes in the following modules:
- Afrikaans home language (AHL100)
- Afrikaans home language for foundation phase 2 (AHLF200)
- Teaching home language Afrikaans (THLA201)
- Language conversational Afrikaans (LCA152)
- Afrikaans home language for intermediate phase 2 (AHLI300)
- Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
- Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
- Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
- Participate in relevant programme, curriculum, and material development.
- Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
- Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as reasonably required by the Registrar’s Office.
- Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
- Provide academic support to students.
- Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
- Participate in research and community engagement projects.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
- Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
- Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
- Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
- Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
Requirements:- Sound teaching and assessment skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisation, administration, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
- Willingness to work when required on Saturdays
Knowledge:- Knowledge and understanding of the subject matter as well as work-based learning (teaching practice).
- Experience in curriculum and materials development.
- Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.
Minimum requirements:- At least three years of teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/disciplines.
- Must be in possession of a relevant teaching qualification.
- Minimum bachelor of education honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Afrikaans teaching and teaching practice.
