Seeking a digitally fluent and detail-driven Digital Marketing Coordinator

Freelance: ASAP yo end June

Contract: June 2025 to March 2026

Based at Poetry’s central Cape Town HQ

poetry is seeking a digitally fluent, detail-driven digital marketing coordinator to join our collaborative marketing team. The Content Studio is currently recruiting for:

  • An immediate freelance role (now to end June)
  • A longer-term contract (June 2025 to March 2026)
Both roles are based at Poetry’s Cape Town HQ, and may suit different types of candidates.

You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day deployment of digital content, particularly mailers and paid media, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and seamless alignment across all brand touchpoints.

We’re looking for a calm, focused professional who takes initiative, self-manages with integrity, and consistently delivers.

What you’ll do
  • Coordinate content rollout across mailers and paid media with brand precision
  • Plan digital calendars with brand, social, and merchandise teams
  • Brief creative assets and uphold Poetry’s editorial and visual standards
  • Tag and track content, and report on performance
  • Support the customer journey across digital touchpoints
  • Maintain process excellence — from formatting to approvals
What you bring
  • 2+ years in digital marketing or content coordination
  • Tertiary qualification in marketing or comms
  • Proficiency in social platforms and email marketing tools
  • Self-managed, emotionally intelligent, and calm under pressure
  • A love for storytelling, retail, and beautifully crafted content

Requirements

  • Strategic campaign planning across email, social, and paid media channels
  • Ability to balance short-term revenue drivers with long-term brand storytelling
  • Experience with seasonal and product-led campaign rollouts
  • Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud)
  • Strong content QA processes, including link checks, brand alignment, and UTM tracking
  • Confident preparing and deploying mailers and troubleshooting under pressure
  • Solid understanding of UTM tagging, performance tracking, and campaign reporting
  • Ability to adapt messaging across the full customer journey (awareness to acquisition)
  • Skilled at briefing and collaborating with designers and copywriters
  • Clear creative sensibility — understands what makes content feel elevated, emotional, and on-brand
  • Calm under pressure with strong self-management and emotional intelligence
  • Collaborative, deadline-driven, and confident navigating cross-functional feedback cycles
  • Passion for lifestyle retail and a strong eye for brand tone, voice, and visual identity
