Dispatch Control Driver

A well-established company within the industrial and engineering sector is seeking a hands-on and highly organised Dispatch Control Driver to join their operations team in Gauteng.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a proactive individual with strong dispatch coordination skills, solid geographical knowledge of Gauteng, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and customer service are critical.

Key responsibilities

• Receive inventory from stores for sales orders
• Coordinate and prioritise urgent deliveries and collections
• Prepare and manage daily driver trip sheets
• Ensure all orders are packed, labelled and strapped correctly for dispatch
• Coordinate with sales, purchasing and expediting teams regarding outstanding equipment
• Use routing software to optimise driver schedules and delivery efficiency
• Update CMS statuses according to delivery schedules
• Drive on-time delivery performance and KPI targets
• Conduct weekly stock takes, stock balancing and inventory investigations
• Ensure all delivery documentation and PODs are accurately completed and returned
• Load and off-load vehicles safely and accurately
• Ensure vehicles are maintained, clean and roadworthy
• Adhere to all SHEQ and safety requirements within the dispatch department
• Assist with dispatch, packing, receiving and housekeeping duties when required

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12 / matric or RPL equivalent
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a dispatch, logistics or similar environment
• Previous administrative experience essential
• Valid unendorsed driver’s licence and valid PRDP
• Good geographical knowledge of Gauteng
• Ability to read maps and confidently use GPS systems
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Deadline-driven with the ability to work under pressure
• Willingness to work overtime and after hours when required
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
