IT Advanced Support Administrator
Job descriptionKey purpose of roleThis role is to lead and provide high quality operational and technical application and systems support. Owner of the Application Problem Management process, ensuring Project Management goals are achieved. Minimising the adverse impact of Incidents and Problems on the business and preventing reoccurrence of Incidents. Key performance areas Maintain effective procurement management for IT and Technical: • Streamline IT and Technical procurement processes • Optimise costs and manage budgets effectively • Ensure efficient vendor management • Maintain compliance with policies and regulations • Align procurement strategies with business needs Ensure accurate management of IT and Technical assets: • Track and maintain IT and Technical assets • Optimise asset usage for efficiency • Ensure data accuracy and up-to-date records • Minimise downtime and disruptions • Align asset management with business needs Improve IT service delivery while ensuring timely and high-quality resolution of support tickets: • Improve IT service delivery efficiency • Streamline ticket management processes • Maintain consistently high-resolution standards • Resolve escalated tickets from first/second line IT helpdesk system. • Administer, manage and maintain Cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft(Azure)) • Resolve escalated tickets from first/second line on ITSM system. • Administer, maintain and protect IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, virtual and physical technology environment (Windows and Linux). • Administer, maintain and protect corporate and broadcast network infrastructure, LAN, WAN, Internet access, firewalls, etc. • Administer, manage and maintain all data protection (backup, business continuity and disaster recovery) systems and processes. • Administer, manage, maintain and protect broadcast infrastructure, applications and data security. • Administer, manage, maintain and protect Email Exchange (mail) infrastructure, applications (Mimecast) and email security (Sendmarc). • Microsoft 365 and Azure administration, management, maintenance and protection. • Manage, maintain and protect relationships with third parties and suppliers. • Keep operational documentation up-to-date (monthly). • Ensure that the architectural design & implementation of new and existing technology solutions allows all components to function harmoniously and in compliance with defined organizational policies, including industry best practice frameworks. • Provide informed recommendations on solution scoping. • Extensively troubleshoot problems. Analyzing and isolating issues. Tracking issues to full restoration / resolution / remediation. • Actively monitor, evaluate, assess system’s performance and security. Suggest enhancement and/or improvements. • Maintain the integrity of the networks, infrastructure deployments, and security. • Keep up to date with current industry trends, emerging technologies and industry best practices Provide assistance with IT projects to ensure completion in accordance with agreed milestones and budget: • Complete assigned project tasks on time • Adhere to agreed project milestones • Technical lead / Subject Matter Expert on projects Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: • Develop and implement comprehensive business continuity plans • Safeguard business operations against disruptions • Minimise downtime and operational impact • Enable swift recovery during disruptions • Administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes. • Perform disaster recovery simulations/tests annually Ensure the stability and reliability of IT systems by prioritising system maintenance and upgrades: • Oversee system maintenance and upgrades • Streamline IT processes for efficiency • Monitor system performance proactively • Address issues swiftly to minimise downtime and disruptions Cybersecurity and Risk Management: • Implementing measures to protect IT systems and data from cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities. • This includes conducting risk assessments, implementing security controls, monitoring security incidents, and developing incident response plans. • Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation plans. Network Performance Monitoring and Optimization: • Implementing tools and processes for monitoring network performance, availability, and reliability. Analyzing network traffic, identifying bottlenecks or performance issues, and implementing optimization strategies to ensure optimal network performance and uptime Minimum required qualification: • Diploma or Degree with a specialisation in IT or a similar related field • ITIL Certification V4 • CompTIA: A+, N+, Server+ • Microsoft certifications (O365, Azure) • Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure) • Security Certifications Qualifications considered advantageous: • A postgraduate degree would be advantageous. • Project Management (advantageous) • Fortinet | FCSS • Ruckus | RASP • CISSP, CCSP, CEH, OSCP • Cisco | CCNA • AWS | SAP-C02, AWS | SCS-CO2, AWS | ANS-CO1 • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect (Expert), Microsoft 365 Administrator (Expert) • CompTIA: A+, N+, Security+, CySA+, CASP+, Cloud+, Server+, Linux+ Minimum years of experience: • Experience in a service desk environment (5 - 8 years) • Experience in providing services to agreed SLA’s and OLA’s • Good core experience in network security and administration, minimum 5 years’ • Strong Microsoft operational experience, O365, Exchange server 2019/AD/File and print, minimum 5 years’ experience • Backup experience, minimum 5 years’ experience • Administration and security of storage solutions, SAN, NAS, LTO. minimum 5 years’ experience • Administration and maintenance of Virtual Environments, Nutanix/VMware experience, minimum 5 years’ experience • Knowledge of infrastructure architecture: Evaluate, design, test, and implement, minimum 5 years’ experience • Strong technical experience in (SD)WAN/LAN – Cisco | Ruckus (5 – 8 years) • Strong technical experience in network security and administration | Fortinet (5 - 8 years) • Administration, management and maintenance of enterprise virtualized environments – VMWare | Hyper V| Nutanix (5 – 8 years) • Strong Microsoft operational experience (5 - 8 years) • Strong data protection technical experience – Veeam | HYCU (5 – 8 years) • Administration, management, maintenance and security of enterprise data storage – Dell | NetApp | HPE (5 – 8 years) • Technical experience in an ITSM environment (5 years) • ITIL v4 methodology (5 years) • Strong technical project management (5 years) Additional role requirements: • Work outside of normal working hours • Project Management methodology • Microsoft eco-system technologies • General network management • VMware | Nutanix (essential) • Enterprise storage (SAN / NAS) • Public Cloud Hyper-scaler Providers (AWS, Microsoft, GCP) • Strong communication skills essential • Excellent technical problem solving and analytical skills • Good technical understanding of current leading technologies, suppliers and industry terminology • Able to prioritize under pressure and work to tight deadlines • Excellent decision making, judgement, planning and organization skills • Ability to work well within a team, supporting other team members • Vibrant and energetic • Ability to work under pressure • Self-motivated • Quick Learner • Delivering service with accuracy and timeously • Team Player • Strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving ability • Clear communication across technical and non-technical teams • Passion for continuous learning and innovation • High integrity and commitment to excellence • Attention to detail and accuracy • Initiative • High levels of professionalism • Punctuality • Process-focused Suitable candidates will be selected in accordance with Primedia Broadcasting’s Employment Equity Policy.
