3 startups win Demo Africa event in Ghana

Three startups have been named winners of the Ghanaian leg of the Demo Africa Innovation Tour, earning the chance to pitch against counterparts from Nigeria and Ivory Coast for a place at the main event.

The startup launchpad competition – which has also just announced it is launching a $100m investment fund – is visiting a host of cities across the continent to select startups for the event, and has already named winners in UgandaKenyaZimbabweJohannesburgMorocco and Nigeria.

Nine startups pitched at an event in Accra, Ghana, held in partnership with Mest Africa, with the winning startups named as agri-tech startup Complete Farmer, data storage startup DevLess, and e-health platform RedBird.

The three Ghanaian startups will now pitch against the winners from Nigeria and Ivory Coast for a place at the main event in Morocco from 18-19 October 2018, where contestants will be provided with resources worth over $150,000, including $120,000 software tools from Microsoft and $15,000 from AWS.

The other seven startups that pitched were Joluud, Trucker, Qualitrace, Damansah, Bidii Build and  InvestXD.
