The Aaron Mokoena Foundation helps poverty-stricken children and young people to rise above their circumstances through football - and, thanks to the Deal4Africa charity initiative, will be able to do a whole lot more. Former Bafana Bafana and Portsmouth captain Aaron Mokoena is one of South Africa's favourite sporting heroes not only because of his prowess on the football field, but also because he cares passionately for this country's youth.
This month his foundation, which particularly assists the youth in the Vaal region, took delivery of a large consignment of charity goods donated by the sister company of Vanderbijlpark's Emerald Resort & Casino, London Clubs International (LCI), through its Deal4Africa initiative. The consignment includes Soccer Balls, T-shirts, sweatshirts, cones, practice markers, goalposts and ball pumps, which it will use to better the lives of young people in the Vaal region. Mokoena was accompanied by several children who will benefit directly from the donation, when he took personal delivery of the goods at the Emerald Resort and Casino.
