Getting internships right
Thanks for this, Claire. I have been involved in a number of internship initiatives over the years, and I don't think most people get them right - largely because there isn't much commitment to doing the things you have highlighted, in particular that it's an opportunity to watch a person learn and improve through what you offer the person and the time you spend with him/her. I would also add that the person responsible for monitoring the intern should consider adapting the plan for the intern based on what is found out about the intern once he/she has been in the business for a while. There are cases where a person comes in with the academic background required but has very limited life skills - things we take for granted like being able to make a business phone call, write an e-mail that makes sense and is clear, calculate something using basic mathematical skills, etc. With this sort of case, I believe one should adapt the internship so that the eventual outcome is that the intern gains some basic business skills.

Content writers are not 'real' writers? It's time we set the record straight...
content writers are the future hence the information age and if one is not future focused indeed they'd not find the reality between the lines , funny enough they'd get the content of the message but not acknowledge the creativity and time spent in order to penetrate the audience. the fact is that we could not all be novelist/ "real writers" , but our talents could be used dynamically to embrace the creativity of writing yet we possess the same qualities but in different spheres. its a love to hate situation and reality strikes!!!

Why as a Media Studies graduate i am not getting a job?
A Mick Mouse degree, or a method to understanding the cultural significance of Mick Mouse? Media studies graduates typically realize themselves entangled in discussions like this, typically as a part of a full of life defense of their chosen degree.Having solely very come into being within the Nineteen Seventies, media studies remains in its infancy and is commonly discharged (ironically, within the media) as a alternative, however strive telling that to anyone WHO has grappled with semiotic or philosophical theory theory as a part of their degree. That said, course content will vary dramatically – therefore me theoretical et al additional business – so career choices will rely upon specifically what you watched. Whereas it appears ancient medium is also in decline, print media and/or production skills in area Unitas like radio and video are extremely valued by media organizations yearning for new ways in which to succeed in web audiences.I have some sensible work expertise with a and my words area unit clearly supported what I felt through such processes within the past.

Media score cards - so wrong
Dear Puzzled,Okay, I can see you're confused, so I'll try and make it simpler.I was talking about "scores". When one rugby team says they're going to beat another one they can't possibly predict the exact end result before they start, can they? And that's the point. You cannot start with the "score" when writing a media plan either. "Scores", by their very nature, are at the end of the process - which is what I wrote about.I hope that makes it more clear?

New approach to water usage needed
There is one subject that is either deliberately removed from the 'table' or is not entertained cultural/financial reasons and that is, the Politics of our Plates, in other words, the food we eat.Meat is known to have the greatest impact, not only on climate change, but on water. Through-out the media, no one is calling on us South Africans to eat less meat during this coming festive season. I dare every South African to make their plede on www.greeenmonday.co.za and eat plant base meals to curb the impact of drought.

Rental Housing Tribunal: fighting for landlords and tenants alike
In many cases, the renter holds the bigger problems that of the property management if indeed there is an issue about property being rented. This is what I always see beforehand prior to getting the property. I always see the management capacity and behavior of their business. Sometimes, I thought of buying a property instead of renting. - .

Innovative solutions needed for SA's housing crisis
Innovative solutions is always possible if we are hand in hand helping each other to start the advocacy and campaign. When it comes to housing, every certain department of the government should take their part in order for the project fair enough for both humanity and nature. A crisis is in fact an effect of current economy where every actions we have, we always bears the fruit. We can change this ideology if we are man enough to get to the right path. Media score cards - so wrong
Chris, how many businesses will ever really start with 'what's in the till' when deciding on media spend? Every single company out there is trying to save on their budgets so that they've got something positive to report, and budgets are extremely flexible as long as it's deemed to be rewarded immediately with return. To start in the till, then, is to build on very shaky ground.

Nice one Chris. Numbers are great however, when one needs to stop a client from adding media because they / their partners like it! Difficult to argue with facts.

Card skimming fraud: who is liable?
With Standard Bank, some of my SMS "notifications" arrive up to 4 days later. Whether this is the bank or the merchant, I don't know, but it is totally inadequate to protect me against fraud...
