Travel like a local, live like a tourist
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4231156This is a true reflection of the 'new-age' travellers who value an authentic experience from a host. It is much more than the accommodation. Its about the relationship, the value you add with knowledge and information and the genuine hospitality that pleases hosts who eventually become friends. This is the standard that I have now set for myself for future travels. Above all, I love showing off Cape Town, its people and its incredible friendliness

How to use QR codes for marketing
I think QR codes are a great marketing tool. They have potential to be really big in South Africa; we just need more companies to use them in their marketing campaigns. This will increase people’s knowledge about them and in turn they will become very popular. QR Code companies such as Qrious Codes www.qrcode.co.za and www.visualead.com create custom QR Codes which are great to give QR Codes that custom feel.

Misconceptions about marketing "in Africa"
The extinction of Strat planners (inquisitive nature to fully understand cultural complexities, extrapolate insights and develop sound strategic platforms). Most black copywriters, art directors and planners etc. struggle to narrate or interpret the populous subcultural behaviours. The advertising industries eurocentrism, lack of diverse thinking in unearthing nor mirroring South Africa’s true motivations has unconsciously made it unnatural for black professionals to think Afrocentric (the ability to see through lens of Africans). The compulsive masquerading of Eurocentric ideas draped in “Blackness” is an incompetent portrayal and fictional narrative of human truths. Alcohol adverts relentlessly depict individuality as the equation of success, so untrue in the African context of success. The beauty of African archetypes is collectivism and celebrating miniature accomplishments in comparison to “western societies” i.e. African context first job, promotion, new car and home renovation. Eurocentricity fails to embrace diversity, undermines differences and explicitly beliefs in European superiority. The practice breeds inferiority, trivializes rich and authentic cultural behaviours. Therefore black professional’s cultures or insights are inadvertently demonized, of no value and merely employed based upon their recognized western higher education. Manifestations of Eurocentrism by no means is forward thinking and insights illegitimatize such assertions.

Clicks kicks off ClubCard makeover with R150 million upload
Kind of ironic that the headline reads R150m as an incentive of the system when Clicks wins a lot more in postage and printing savings. So as much as everyone is calling to migrate to digital post, the savings are never passed on.

Blade is out for Rhodes
Cecil John Rhodes statue should stay because he played a significant role in our history and we cannot sweep that under the carpet. Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande should spend his time worrying about providing better quality education and the students should study harder to improve on their 30 % pass mark.

How to create a logo for your business
Nice article Sophie. I think the inclusion of the graphic designer is crucial particularly as one of the services that should be provided is a check to see that the logo is already not in existence.Additionally, I think that it may be worthwhile for the business owner to research colour selection. I noticed that your cover image had an image not too dissimilar to design seed. This is a great tool to check colour palettes.

DJ Sbu and the fake Forbes cover
If I were DJ Sbu, I would publicly admit that I made a mistake, that I got carried away by the lovely picture and, without thinking twice, retweeted it. But that, on second thought, I realise that I would also not be happy with someone else hi-jacking my brand for unauthorised usage. I therefore apologise to Forbes and to all my fans who have always stood by me. This will never happen again.
