AIRCOM provides network optimisation tools to MTN Uganda

AIRCOM International, an independent network planning and optimisation consultancy, announced on Tuesday, 18 November 2008, that it has signed a deal to deliver network optimisation tools to MTN Uganda. MTN continues to deploy GSM network infrastructure across Uganda and now provides mobile coverage to over 150 cities, towns and villages across the country.

MTN selected AIRCOM following a detailed evaluation of available network solutions. The African operator selected AIRCOM's DATASAFE tool to manage the ongoing re-configuring and updating of radio nodes within the network.

“Effective configuration management is a critical factor in the process of building and maintaining quality networks,” said Graham Kemp, managing director, Africa, AIRCOM International. “By deploying DATASAFE, MTN Uganda will join other subsidiaries of the MTN Group in benefiting from the seamless, automated network reconfiguration techniques which maximise network quality.”

DATASAFE offers a central repository and a multi-vendor, multi-technology tool that enables operators to work within a single configuration management environment aiding configuration management and helping to prevent outages and poor levels of service.
