"The Lilizela Tourism Awards are about identifying the best service providers in the industry and acknowledging and awarding them for their dedication to service and product excellence," says Thulani Nzima, Chief Executive Officer of South African Tourism.
The categories for the Awards are Service Excellence, Sustainable Development, Entrepreneurship and the Minister's Award. FEDHASA is proud to be the custodian of the Imvelo Responsible Tourism Award that is part of the Sustainable Development category. This award aims to create significant awareness of environmental management issues in the industry.
It is in line with the National Minimum Standard for Responsible Tourism, the Responsible Tourism guidelines for the South African hospitality industry and the UN World Tourism Organisation's code of ethics. Imvelo is also supported by the Heritage Environmental Rating Programme and members are invited to support this award.
Says Rob Kucera, Chairperson of FEDHASA Cape, "Through these Awards, players in the hospitality industry have the opportunity to raise their level of national recognition and their profile both locally and internationally. Their businesses stand to gain great publicity on a number of platforms. We therefore encourage all businesses to grab this opportunity with both hands and enter before the closing date on 15 May."
Winners will be announced at the Lilizela Tourism Awards ceremony during Tourism month September.
