Gabriel, Lombard Tyres hosts driving safety clinic for women

Gabriel, the shock absorber brand of Control Instruments-Automotive, in partnership with Lombard Tyres Key West branch in Krugersdorp, hosted a clinic for women covering all aspects of road and vehicle safety.

The "Vroue met durf en daad" event hosted by Renier Botha, CEO of Lombard Tyres, focused on educating woman in the community to be more independent and assisting them to do things men would normally do.

Guest speakers covered a basic knowledge of tyres, batteries and Gabriel shock absorbers. Women were also shown how to change a vehicle's tyre.

The Netcare 911 team covered emergencies and how to save a life, good eating habits and exercises for woman.

"The Gabriel brand has always been about the entire value proposition to its customers, its extensive product range and safety education," said Sean Staley, Control Instruments-Automotive divisional head - Drive Control.

One of the latest initiatives undertaken in response to customer demand is providing a suspension tester solution to the market. Gabriel's marketing and engineering staff identified and validated a suspension tester manufactured by Actia Muller, which was adapted for the local market by Gabriel and now operational at fitment centres countrywide.

The Gabriel brand has been in SA for 78 years. Gabriel recently achieved top position in the shock absorber category of research conducted by Target Group Index (TGI).

TGI's ICON Brand Survey is the largest of its kind in South Africa. More than 15 000 consumers were surveyed, representing over 19,8-million adult South Africans.
