    UB40 to rock Kampala; UB there

    Celebrated British-based band UB40 will set Kampala on fire this Saturday. Preparations for one of the ‘80s most popular bands are in high gear in the capital where the reggae idols are due to perform for Ugandan fans.

    Tickets to the highly coveted concert are on sale for UGX300,000 for Platinum seats, UGX120,000 for Gold and UGX25,000 (Silver). This concert will go down in the history of Uganda as one of the priciest ever after US-based singer Jonathan Butler's, which cost $70.6 per ticket last year. Revellers usually pay an average of UGX20,000 for concerts staged by local musicians.

    MTN invited the band to Uganda and for the past four weeks has been creating massive public awareness for the concert, through huge city outdoor billboards, newspaper adverts and Club parties dubbed activation campaigns.

    Martha Nahumachi, a fan who works in Mbale district, over 230km east of Kampala, told bizcommunity.com that “I have to attend that show, whatever it takes”.

    The band's name comes from the notorious British unemployment form that was issued by the United Kingdom government's department of employment at the time the band formed.
